Surprise Catch of the Day!
Title:  Surprise Catch of the Day!
Description:  It seems every winter or spring, at least once a year; BNSF's route from Southern California to Northern California and up to Oregon and Washington; is knocked out of service. To keep the traffic flowing, BNSF sends their trains "the long way around" via the Union Pacific, up through Nevada, Utah, Idaho, then back into Oregon. On my way home from school, I spotted an eastbound detoured BNSF train in the distance. I rushed up to "The Cut" in Erda, Utah. The "Faux-bonnet" and the H1 paint schemes trailing behind the lead engine were a cool sight to see so deep in Union Pacific territory.

BNSF at Provo Yard
Title:  BNSF at Provo Yard
Description:  The Moffat Tunnel was down for repair work for a few days, so BNSFs trains in Provo were kept on the ready for when the tunnel would reopen. This train looked like it would soon depart, now that the route had been reopened.

Resting on the Mainline
Title:  Resting on the Mainline
Description:  Due to floods in northern Nevada, the Union Pacific had to reroute a large amount of trains over the Shaffter Subdivision (which itself was crippled by some flood damage too). Due to this traffic jam, the UP began to stack trains out on the Lynndyl Subdivision east of Garfield and west of Salt Lake to prepare them to travel down the Shaffter in conjunction "fleeting" together on the crippled line. I found one such train, left peacefully on one of the mainline tracks; while a flooded field reflected the blue sky.
